With the recent talk of Roe vs Wade about to be overturned, I decided to create a small art piece. I had no plans on what it would become but as I was working, it all came together.
It all started with a cat and a moon that I was planning to use for a shirt design.
I thought it looked a little bland so I started adding herbs, choosing sage and mugwort for their uses and properties. Plus, the textures and shapes were a bit different as well. With the addition of herbs, I also added crow skulls for the fun of it.
At this point a friend of mine pointed out what the art was starting to look like and that I should add onto it more.
I ended up adding a lunar moth, potion bottles, a tiger skull, and rosemary.
I was starting to piece together how everything went together.
I chose to go with a color scheme of purple, pink, and green for the most part. I thought the colors gave the image a feminine look while also looking a bit magical.
In the end, I finished it off with darker colors, gradients, and runes.

Moon for cycle, femininity, and time
Lunar moths for determination and transformation
Crow skulls for memory, magic, and life
Tiger skull for courage
Potion bottles for magic and dreaming
Sage for mortality and warding off evil
Rosemary for protection and alertness
Mugwort for confronting difficult truths and abortion
